I’m sure that you can easily guess the first one…. No surprise, our top prospect was Domonic Brown .
Mike Sweeney has told his agents he still wants to play baseball this season, but only if he gets a guaranteed deal from a contending Major League ball club.
If you live in the Philadelphia area you know how cold it is outside.
So I’m as excited as anyone for this season to get started.
The Phillies and Kyle Kendrick avoided arbitration yesterday when the agreed to a one-year, $2.45 million dollar deal.
The Eagles are rebuilding their defensive coaching staff from the ground up. Today the Birds announced that Jim Washburn will be their new defensive line coach, but Philadelphia has yet to name a new defensive coordinator. Washburn replaces Rory Segrest, who was fired earlier this week. Philadelphia is still searching for a replacement for Sean McDermott, who was fired as defensive coordinator and quickly landed in the same role in Carolina. Washburn spent the last 12 years with the Tennessee Titans, where he most recently presided over the turnaround of Jason Babin, who had just 2.5 sacks in Philadelphia last year and hadn’t topped five sacks in a year in his seven-year career before posting 12.5 last year. “We are thrilled to add a quality defensive line coach in Jim Washburn,” said Eagles head coach Andy Reid. “He had a great tenure with Jeff Fisher and the Tennessee Titans and he’ll play a big part in the development of our defensive line moving forward.” Washburn will now oversee the development of youngsters such as Brandon Graham, Antonio Dixon, Trevor Laws, Daniel Te’o-Nesheim and Ricky Sapp in addition to established veterans like Trent Cole, Juqua Parker, Darryl Tapp, Mike Patterson and Brodrick Bunkley. Washburn’s resume includes the likes of Jevon Kearse, Kyle Vanden Bosch, Kevin Carter, Albert Haynesworth and Gary Walker. Those five in addition to Babin all went to the Pro Bowl during Washburn’s time in Tennessee. “Words cannot express the gratitude I have for Jeff Fisher and the Titans organization for allowing a nobody like me to coach in the NFL for the last 12 years,” Washburn said. “An opportunity came along for me to join the Eagles and I felt like it was good timing. At this stage of my career, I’m ready to make a change. This is no reflection on the state of the Titans but just a good opportunity for me. Washburn’s Titans teams ranked 7 th in the NFL in sacks and 5 th against the run dating back to his hiring in 1999.
I’ve been reading more and more about MLB considering extending the playoffs and I just can’t seem to find any reason to consider it good for baseball.
