So they decided to push back the updates to this site for a week, which means I’m still able to write. Too bad after last night, I don’t have a lot of motivation. The Phillies dropped the series opener with Atlanta Braves behind a great performance by Cliff Lee. Cliff struck out a league best 16 batters in the loss. The Braves capitalized on a few hard hit balls that were just out of the reach of a jumping Jimmy Rollins, and Raul Ibanez, proving that baseball is indeed a game of inches The Phillies bats were silenced by Derek Lowe. Lowe had a no-no going through six innings until the Shane Victorino lead off 7th with a single to left. With Oswalt headed to the disabled list Kyle Kendick will take to the mound on Saturday. Side Notes – Oswalt – Yes, he’s headed for the disabled list with a sore back. Oswalt said that he’s been feeling the pain since pitching against San Diego two weeks ago. Roy thinks that a few extra days might be just what he needs. and the Phillies agree that in May, it’s not worth taking their chances. If the Phillies wish, they can back date Oswalt’s stint on the DL which would make him available to them again next Friday. Chase Utley – Chase Utley is in Dunedin Florida to participate in extended spring training. It’s a really big step for the slugging second baseman who has not played in game since last October. Let’s be pals on Facebook! FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER!

At 5pm on Friday afternoon the NFL players’ association announced that they have decertified as a union. This means that the union has dissolved, thus making the players independently hired and therefore each player [...]

By Mike Lederer, PhilaPhans Staff Writer Kudos to the CBS announcing crew for finding this incredible footage of a 13-year old Andy Reid participating in the NFL’s Punt, Pass, and Kick competition in December of 1971.
