Re: 8/2 Trade Deadline Discussion
Bryce is already hitting off a tee and throwing up to 60 feet. I think he'll be back before Sept. 1. He won't be out another 30 games, maybe 20 or so.

Re: 8/2 Trade Deadline Discussion
phtown-Sanchez was a 12th round pick in 2019 draft out of Puerto Rico. He's 21 now and was with the Clearwater (low-A) club. He was having a decent--but not great by any means--season down there, slashing .236/.286/.429. He was hurt for about a month (went on IL mid-June), and just got sent out on r...

Re: 8/2 Trade Deadline Discussion
Overall, I like what the front office did today. Since 6/1, the players have given the front office a reason to get them some help today, and that's what I think the front office did. It was good to see. Dombrowski was able to add to the three identifiable areas of need that he could address in the ...

Re: Phillies Minor Leagues Discussion Thread
De La Cruz has been promoted to Reading, where he joins OF Johan Rojas, who made the jump from Jersey Shore about a month ago. After a hot start, Rojas has cooled off and just missed time due to paternity leave. Clearwater OF Marcus Lee Sang was promoted to JS to fill the spot vacated by De La Cruz....

Re: 8/2 Trade Deadline Discussion
Is there any indication the Phils are interested in Bradley? He's a terrific outfielder but can't hit a lick (OPS+ 59 last year and 34 this year--makes Odubel look like Babe Ruth.) With Boston hitting the skids, I'm sure JBJ could be had for a song but I'm not interested. More upside with Taylor. Bu...

Re: Phillies Minor Leagues Discussion Thread
Good time for a little prospects update. The young guns at Jersey Shore have been on a roll of late, including three straight shutout performances by Ben Brown, Mick Abel, and Andrew Painter. Abel struck out 10 and allowed 4 hits over 6 innings last Friday night. Painter allowed 5 hits and struck ou...

Re: 8/2 Trade Deadline Discussion
I'd rank the Phils' needs as follows: 1. starting pitching 2. center field 3. bullpen Offensively, the Phils need more from some guys already on the roster (Castellanos, Didi, JT to name three), and of course to have Harper and Segura return and perform to their level. If they get that, they'll be o...

Re: Phillies Minor Leagues Discussion Thread
The Crawford pick was a somewhat surprising, and somewhat risky, pick for me. Rocker or no Rocker--and I suppose he was my dream scenario more than something realistic--I thought the Phils were probably going to go for a pitcher again at 17. First, this draft seems to be stronger on the pitching sid...

Re: Phillies Minor Leagues Discussion Thread
Happy Draft Day Keith Law again mocks RHP Kumar Rocker to the Phils this weekend. That would be exciting (to me, at least) if that happens. Elsewhere... Re: Phillies' 2022 GDT #87: 07/11/22 Phillies(46-40) @ Cardinals(46-42) - 7:15pm
I actually thought this list was going to be longer and worse in terms of "damage" to the Phils' chances of winning in Toronto. Nola and Gibson weren't scheduled to start anyway. JT was going to get at least one day off this week, so he gets one extra. Bohm could possibly be replaced by Ca...
