Re: Phillies' 2024 GDT #47: 5/18/24 Nationals(20-23) @ Phillies(32-14) - 6:05pm

Oh wait, I missed that Strahm signed an extension for 2025, with an option for 2026. Sweet.

Hoffman keeps this up, he'll be looking at 3/36 as his starting point. Higher, the more games he closes for the Phillies.

Meanwhile, Hoffman and Strahm both being free agents this winter is going to be a very very expensive problem.

Alvarado has been good, but rarely great, so far this year. No reason yet to think it's going to be a problem. He's probably going to need to have his workload managed more than some of the other relievers. Obviously, if he's still struggling with walks & velocity right at the July trade deadlin...

Excellent workmanlike win.

32-14 now.

Imagine when we have one more high-leverage RH to complement the very very good Alvarado, Hoffman, Strahm & Kerkering.

Alvarado needs 7-10 days to rest and recharge. It's a long season.

The options at this point would either be trading for a Kevin Pillar type or dealing a Top 10 (possibly Top 5) prospect for the kind of CF that you'd want to take into October.

Re: Phillies' 2024 GDT #44: 5/15/24 Mets(19-22) @ Phillies(30-13) - 6:40pm

Good points all around in giving Rojas room to develop. It should also be noted that there's not really a replacement for him without making a trade, which is a factor. IF Rojas fails to make necessary progress, they could consider making a trade at the deadline. But they also have to weigh their bi...

One of Nola's best games as a Phillie, which is saying a lot. 95th win as a Phillie. One more win puts him in the Top 10 in Phillies history. He should pass Schilling and sit at #7 by the end of the season. Before long, he'll be pretty firmly the team's fourth winningest pitcher of all time, though ...
