Interesting. Definitely will be interesting to see how those unfold side by side. Mildly surprised Taillon didn't get more, but they're really just about the same guy

Re: The Philadelphia Phillies 2022-2023 Off-Season Thread: Nov 6th, 2022

Stripling also bounced between the starting rotation and the bullpen. Stripling pitched against the Phillies twice last season. The first game was in Toronto. He did well against a Bryce-less club that was short players who had not vaxed. In his second start in Philly, against the full line up, he ...

Kind of neat to have Turner taking less money from the Phillies to sign than what SD offered. Suck on it Preller.

Rodon or Taillon might be nice signings but they would cost. Need to extend Nola. That won't be cheap with the numbers that are being thrown around these days. Might be more economical to sign Eovaldi and Stripling to fill the void until Painter, Abel and McGriff can come on board.

Re: The Philadelphia Phillies 2022-2023 Off-Season Thread: Nov 6th, 2022

Since it seems like a foregone conclusion, I hope the Phillies wrap things up with Trea Turner's huge contract sooner rather than later. Maybe they can even push back or spread out some of the money, to help them bring in another great SP for 2023. Not a foregone conclusion. Phils will be aggressiv...

The game is going to be different next season with the changes that are going to go into effect. A premium will be placed on speed and defense. Adding Turner, a better glove at 1B and an OF who has a good OBP and can run are more important than adding another three outcomes bat.

Going into the season, I thought that Hart would have a better defense in front of him and would improve. Not so. Provorov still plays too much bad hockey. TDA is not a good fit with him and in fact is a weak defenseman himself. Sanheim has yet to show up this season. Ristolainen doesn't belong in t...

How does a guy blow and 10+ game lead and lose the division in the regular season as well as get blown out in the POs with a team that as a $300 M payroll win MOY ?

Re: The Philadelphia Phillies 2022-2023 Off-Season Thread: Nov 6th, 2022

IMO, the line up was flawed all season. It lacked the nits and gnats to get on base before the big bats. Solo homers are nice but three run jobs win the games. The inability of the top of the order to get on base and keep it moving was a killer all season. Has to be remedied.
