I think the Phillies should approach Wheeler this winter about a big-money three-year extension for 2025, 2026, 2027. Those would be his age 35, 36, 37 seasons. Pitchers of his caliber tend to still be strong in those years. I don't care if it's an overpay; he's been underpaid throughout this 5-year...

Also, today's meaningless Phillies-Mets game is unlikely to be played Hopefully they cancel it and don't schedule a meaningless doubleheader on Saturday or Sunday. Phillies would probably let Walker & Sanchez both get some innings Saturday and then they'll call up a Plassmeyer type to eat inning...

Obviously the result of that suspended game that the Marlins lead 2-1 in the ninth looms very large for the Cubs, Reds and Diamondbacks.

Anything that might get Arizona to use Gallen and/or Kelly this weekend is good

Angel Hernandez has no incentive to be good at his job because @mlb would never hold him or any other ump accountable for being so very bad at the job. Bryce Harper will get a slap on the wrist. Hernandez will get a slap on the back.

MVPs are Wathan and Thomson for putting their bodies between raged-out Bryce and the umpires.

It feels like Wheeler has struggled with pitch count more this year than last year.
I think he'll be effective in postseason, but really need him to go 6-7 if possible.

Would be really nice to get a Diamondbacks loss and either a Cubs or Marlins win today
