Falter vs. Wright today.
Gibson vs. Morton tomorrow.
A weekend split would be huge.
Braves, starting to see division slip away, might be focusing more on getting healthy for wild-card series (vs. us, Padres or Brewers)
Strider, arguably their best SP, went on the IL today. No guarantee he's back for the best-of-3.
Gibson vs. Morton tomorrow.

No Acuna again - gives them a little more of a shot, but not a good pitching matchup

Neither pitching match-up bodes well for the PhilsChristopher wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 3:49 pm Falter vs. Wright today.

Need to hope that the Reds can win one or the Phils may need to go 6-1 against the Cubs/Nats

How are you not ready for a fastball middle in?
This team watches too many hittable strikes go by.

Falter is a 6th starter personified

I think he has a shot to contribute in 2023, but this may burst the Falter positivity bubble.
Go Reds.

I think you're underestimating the extent to which Astros will not given a shit about final series. They're still leagues better obviously, but they're not bringing much motivation to those games. They won't be pushing starters.FolesMVP09 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 8:37 pmNeither pitching match-up bodes well for the PhilsChristopher wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 3:49 pm Falter vs. Wright today.

Just like the Phils vs the Braves in 2011?Christopher wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 10:02 pmI think you're underestimating the extent to which Astros will not given a shit about final series. Phils offense is garbage most nights - even 5-6 innings of the Astros starters, let alone their bullpen, is going to be an issue
I think what you said about week ago may be the end result, Phils finish behind them by a game.
If they are 1/2 game up after tomorrow. Brewers with a 9 game homestand, Phils with a 10 game roadtrip does not bode well.

The Phillies are going to finish ahead of the Brewers because at the end of the day they are a better team. Better record, run differential, head to head, BaseRuns, etc. A team who is 7th in runs per game and 5th in team wRC+ in September does not have a “garbage offense most nights.”FolesMVP09 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 11:42 pmJust like the Phils vs the Braves in 2011?Christopher wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 10:02 pmI think you're underestimating the extent to which Astros will not given a shit about final series. Wag your finger with your phony “realism” that, if we’re being honest, is mostly a transparent, lame defense mechanism against your own feelings, all you want. None of your bottomless black hole of fatalism and doomsaying changes any of the objective data about each team as constructed. Being a miserable prick doesn’t make you smarter or more observant than anyone else.
