Tug McGraw
Al Holland
Mitch Williams
Brad Lidge...
... and now Ranger Suarez
Those names will always be etched into our memories of Phillies lore of who sent us to the World Series.
Harper is turning into beloved status and will be enshrined should they win it all.
They are playing as a team, and while Harper is the star, and MVP, it took more than just him to win all four games.
None of us thought we would be here typing all this on this particular thread today. Our gang is going to the World Series bitches!
Soak this in cause come Friday they will have the steepest hill to climb. Can they do it? Sure! Anything is possible, and maybe the Baseball Gods are smiling down on us for four more wins!
Great post!
(fyi - Ruthven was on the mound in 80. not Tug for the final out)

Yeah. I wasn't 100% if it was Ruthven, or McGraw. I could've just said Maddox lol.
Every time I watch that NLCS Game 5 (have the DVD), I try to reimagine it in the world of message boards and Twitter. Even the wildest stuff of the past 25 years can barely hold a candle to the plot twists and decisions in that game.

Still the greatest NLCS ever. Trillo's triple with Harry on the call and I think Wheeler screaming in the background is the best!
Stayed up with my Dad when they won it in 80. A memory I will never forget.

On the downside, the hopes that many of us had that this team would have a major overhaul in the offseason is off the table.
Worth it
Did you catch where Middleton called Rhys Hoskins "the soul of the Phillies" last night? No way he departs this winter. All we can do is hope they don't extend him and just let him walk after 2023.

I can still see Dick Ruthven's throwing motion with the delay at the top. It was one of my favorites, one I used to mimic when we'd pretend to be Phillies when we were kids. That includes Mike Schmidt's butt wiggle before he settled in. Lol.

one more year of control? what would he get a $5MM raise? i dont think a long term deal is wise
