Chris referenced it in the game 3 thread, but if the Phils are going to win this series, I think that they have to win tonight

2-2 with Verlander (regardless of his WS struggles) vs Thor/bullpen is not ideal
Whether or not Wheeler can bounce back in game 6 is a big worry
Game 7 in Houston, regardless of what happened in game 3, would be very difficult.

Needing to win 1 of those 3 is a lot less daunting than having to win 2 obviously.

A lot of things have surprised me about this October and a lot of things have fallen nicely for the Phillies (who have stepped up magnificently to every opportunity), but I think perhaps the thing that shocks me most is that teams are still pitching to Bryce Harper.

If I were an opposing manager, I'd consider thinking: You might win two more games, but you're going to have to do it while Harper walks eight times.

I mean, Bryce can be pitched to when he's cold. He cannot be pitched to -- by anyone -- when he's hot. Right now, he's on everything. You have to adjust to that and look for outs elsewhere.

I guess it gets back to Astros not respecting Phillies and thinking they will be handed this title.

Utley, and Rollins to throw out first pitch.

Guessing it's Lidge to Chooch tomorrow which makes perfect sense.

Again, I don't know who, or what else they could do besides Burton to Foles to get this crowd going. Other than 6 hours of tailgating.

Confirmed they're wearing the Powder Blues on Thursday, as per Thursday regular season tradition

To reiterate: No matter how Nola does today and how the rest of the series goes, I now consider this, hands downs, a Top 3 greatest and Top 3 most beloved team in Phillies history.

Now, LFG and win 2 more.

not that it matters but would have liked to see an older eagle last eve. You had Schmidt, Doc, Bernie and Brandon Graham, who's obviously still playing. Jaws? Randall? i assume it was to have someone from championship teams so there's that. Anyone from the 1960 team left?

Meh. Would rather see them win it with their own uniform rather than a throwback but whatever works!

The 1960 Eagles were all born between 1925 and 1938. Can't imagine who's left. ... A handful of them died in 2020, some from COVID.
