Well by that measure we're probably not going to see a fully healthy Christian McCaffrey Sunday either.
Both teams dealing with things, we'll see how it plays out.

Understood--my methods are unscientific.

And I did see SF's statement that McCaffrey had a calf contusion but was expected to play on Sunday.

If the shoe were on the other foot, Sirianni would say it would take a miracle for superhuman McCaffrey to to suit up.

To me, a loss to a rookie, last pick, QB who's played less than half a season at home in the NFCCG would be worse than Tampa and Carolina. They have to get to Purdy somehow, some way and rattle him, confuse him, etc.

I think you trust your defense to play its game and don't get into their heads that they have to overcompensate and spend the game focusing on Purdy. If they just do their jobs, focus on all the threats and play their game, there's a very good chance they win.

Eagles' defense > Dallas' defense and Dallas held SF to 19 points.

They lost to Delhomme (though they only scored 13 points) and Johnson - 2 marginal QBs. It is the same as this year - teams with great defenses who had a QB who could manage the game

In 2017 - a team with a top defense, marginal QB got crushed - so hopefully it is more like that

Need to play man to man, stack the line to try to limit their running game. If Purdy makes plays, it is what it is, but put the onus on him

It's possible that Purdy beats us, though I'm not betting on it.

But if there's this much angst over Purdy, I can't imagine the level of angst and doom we would potentially see during two weeks of preparing for Mahomes or Burrow. Clearly, they'd each put up 70 on us, right?

well its football and QB's are kind of a big deal in terms of a team's performance

I am sure that Pats fans snickered when they faced Foles in SB52

You never know...

Yeah, I'm not snickering about Purdy at all. Don't care when he was drafted. He's done very well. He could maestro the 49ers to a win Sunday just by playing mistake-free ball.

It's also possible he plays mistake-free ball and loses by 17.

There's plenty to worry about for Sunday, for sure. I guess that I feel like, if we're going to loss, the most likely scenario involves the 49ers' defensive shutting us down, especially if Hurts & Brown aren't 100%. We could lose, 13-10, which would have nothing to do with Purdy.

Or we could win 27-10.

We are inclined by history to be pessimistic about NFC championship games, but, all things considered, we stack up about as well as you'd hope for this time around.

If the Eagles lose - I think that it will be the result of turnovers.

Can't give SF shortfields

If the Eagles win, my out of the box prediction, a TD bomb to (shockingly) Quez is the key play
