I don't think you can pull the same trick/magic two years in a row.
Thomson is average as a tactical manager, and I don't think it's a Girardi situation like last year.
Problem is superstars not producing and Dombrowski failing to address depth in the offseason.
They'll think it can be like last year, when the Phillies puttered all summer and then nabbed the #3 wild card. Nobody in the NL is running away with the 2nd and 3rd wild cards. So playing trash baseball isn't yet anywhere near fatal for this team's hopes.
