Don't resign Harden.
Next year is going to be tough, but another year of Maxey development and with Tobias coming off the books, you can reload the year after.
You in no way even consider an Embiid trade. No athlete has ever been more loyal to this city and delivered despite constant criticism. We don't deserve him.

Unfortunately, i think their best option is to run it back with a new coach.
it'd be a different story if you could allocate Harden dollars to some FA but not signing Harden doesn't save them much. They'd only be $10MM under the cap. Plus, there isn't a needle moving FA out there.
No tradeable assets.
A better coach can make a difference. Look at Spoelstra v. Mazzulla

Sure, they are better off with Harden in 2023-24.
But they are NOT better off signing him for 3 or 4 years.
They are really in a situation where they essentially have to hope Harden leaves and then punt on Embiid's age 29-30 season ...... unless by some miracle they can make a run with Embiid/Maxey/Harris/roleplayers for one season. Then go for a big free agent in summer of 2024.

So if I'm understanding your post correctly, Harden's salary counts toward the salary cap for the 2023-2024 season even though he opted out of his contract? That seems weird.sentinelhyder wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 9:28 pm Unfortunately, i think their best option is to run it back with a new coach.

You can go over the cap to resign your own players. Otherwise your options are limitedadamcru wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 11:20 amSo if I'm understanding your post correctly, Harden's salary counts toward the salary cap for the 2023-2024 season even though he opted out of his contract? Not going to matter in terms of winning a title - but he is a good hire
