Dismal.
Well, Hall could be back soon - fwiw

Hosmer & Aguilar are out there - ugh

I'm in sell baby sell mode - but they don't have much to trade that will get them anything decent

Maybe they can get an A ball prospect for Turner

0-7 tonight with RISP
Why? He’s not at the plate. It’s obvious that half of the batting order does whatever they want no matter what has been discussed in the pregame chats. A shake up is needed. Bring up Muzziotti to play LF and sit Schwarber
You don't fire one of the best hitting coaches in baseball because the team is in a slump. You don't replace Schwarber with Muzzioti because he's playing well at AAA. I doubt Muzzioti will ever be a major league regular.

I think hitting coaches tend to be overrated. Long was awesome when the Nationals' offense was led by Soto and Rendon (who wouldn't be?)

That said, I generally agree that it's too soon to scapegoat Kevin Long.

Schwarber situation is tough because Harper has to DH.

I'd reduce Schwarber's playing time to about 75% and bat him seventh for the time being. (Not that we have six guys worthy of hitting 1-6 right now)

And I'm not opposed to see some Muzziotti, Cave or even Kingery in LF. I don't think Guthrie brings anything to the table.

Of course, this situation is further frotzed with Bohm on the DL and someone named Drew Ellis replacing him. It's harder to bat Schwarber seventh in a lineup filled with Clemens and Sosa/Ellis/Harrison on a daily basis.

It feels a bit like deck chairs on the Titanic at this point, but my lineup would be:

Stott
Realmuto
Harper
Castellanos
Marsh
Turner
Schwarber
Clemens
Sosa

Walker just another of the stiffs Dumbrowskihas acquired. Mediocre fastball, forkball, sinker. Behind every hitter
What a junk pile this team is

Walker has to be pitching hurt. He's trying to win with guile rather than pitch quality. His stuff is nothing.

And, again, unless they had kept their OWN guys (Eflin, Gibson), the pitching market was crap this winter. They all suck, except Eovaldi, who had draft compensation and injury history attached.

When does Middleton erupt? After Washington sweeps them?

Hard to say. That doesn't tend to be his style.
Their options are super-limited right now.
Like, it's clear they need pitching. But they also have a punchless offense, so why would it matter if they added pitching?

Seems like a compete breakdown in all facets. I have never seen an offense so consistently chasing pitches and striking out a such an alarming rate. Up and down the lineup
