Walker was so good in June and now he just struggles. You need 8+ to win when he pitches
Well, we're at 8
and they scored 7..........

640ish OPS the 2nd half
108 OPS+
He is a marginal starter

I knew his OPS was bad in the second half, but damn that's pathetic. Explains why Turner is about to pass him for OPS on the season.

Walker's 15 wins are proof positive that pitcher's wins can be an overvalued stat

OT - some poetic justice today as the Twins crush Giolito 20-6

That being said --if he opts for a 1 year deal to prove that he can still be a top pitcher, I'd be ok with the Phils taking that shot

Too many bullpen arms with loose, inconsistent mechanics. Makes for a rough ride in the latter innings.

Secured the win. Now win the series and put them out of their misery.

Stott and Bohm are a joy to watch at the plate.

Assuming they're only adding one starting pitcher this winter, is that the way to go?

Roughly speaking, for 2024 we have:

1 - Wheeler
3 - Suarez
4 - Walker
4/5 - Sanchez (could be higher, but we need to err on the side of caution)

I'm not sure that adding Giolito to that rotation helps them toward winning the 2024 World Series.

I don't know WHO they're going to get or how they're going to get, him, but I think they need someone who, at minimum, is a good bet to be a #2 caliber starter on a playoff team. Everything else is just playing around at the edges.

It will be interesting to see what their plan for Strahm is in 2024. It seems he doesn't have the endurance to be more than an occasional emergency starting pitcher. So at best you hope he's your second-best lefty in the pen and can pitch in high-leverage moments. At worst, he's your multiple-inning middle relief guy.

I cannot see Walker in this rotation next year. Rather re-sign Nola and hope either Abel orMcGarry can make the jump
Walker worse every time out. Win record means nothing. His WHIP getting worse and worse. 1.66 in last 5 games
He is a 5 inning bullpen killer. Trade him for prospects and eat some of the $54 mil if needs be. Get him out of here
He is just the kind of journeyman stiff we’ve seen here forever.

1) McGarry regressed this year - I wouldn't count on him
2) Abel we'll see
3) Sanchez - I am still skeptical on him. Falter looked decent last year too and we saw how that worked out.
4) Walker - I don't see them trading him
5) Not expecting the Phils to make a big splash for a starter if Nola goes. So Giolito type may be more probable. He was ok with Chicago this year, but fell off a cliff since being traded
