OT -

Reds DFA Renfroe and place Bader on the IL - so ultimately the Angels (and other teams) purge helped no one. Guardians close to being eliminated

It really was a must-win game: Wheeler vs. a guy whose arm the Braves destroyed last year and who won't be on the playoff roster.

Braves will have a big advantage in the NLDS vs whomever they play as they only will need a 3 man rotation with the off days. So you are looking at Strider, Morton twice if it went 5

Whomever plays them - if they won the WC series in 2, could go 3-1-2 (3,1 if necessary)
If they won in 3 then you'd have to go 4,1,2 (3,1 if necessary)

One step at a time.

The Braves are the overwhelming World Series champion favorite, and they have a lot of championship parts. They might just hit six homers every game and it won't matter who's on the mound.

But I sort of think Fried is the key to their October, with Morton as the #3. Bryce Elder is a very solid #4 when needed.

That's why Braves are skipping Fried this series to get him healthy

Lorenzen lugging the 30 gallon drum of kerosene with him. Useless.
