Re: The 76ers' 2023-2024 Season Thread
[The Sixers announced Wednesday that they signed Council to a two-way contract and waived Ąžuolas Tubelis, a rookie big man out of Arizona who made no preseason appearances.]
[“He’s been really good,” Nurse said. “He’s really improved from the summer. He’s been much better than he was at summer league and I just think he’s doing everything we’re asking. ... We’ve got to figure out who understands what their role is, how we’re playing, and how we’re doing that stuff. He does it all the time. He’s at the rim, he’s on the glass, he catches and shoots the open rhythm shots, and that’s a big part of what a guy like him needs to do.
“I think he’s going to be in a great situation to get better, and let’s just see how it goes. I think he’s got a lot of talent, as you guys saw. Let’s see how it goes, but he’s really improved from the summer until now.”
The Sixers’ trio of two-way players is now guards Terquavion Smith, Council and Smart.]
Love the potential of those 3. Long term projects but this team needs that youth to build.

Batum has joined the 76ers after missing time for personal reasons following the trade. He'll make his debut in uniform on Monday. No idea if he'll get playing time.

Philadelphia 76ers guard Kelly Oubre Jr. was a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in Center City, Philadelphia tonight and is receiving treatment at a local hospital, a Sixers spokesman tells ESPN. Oubre Jr., is currently in stable condition. Representatives from the team, including 76ers President Daryl Morey, are with Oubre Jr., at the hospital. He is expected to miss significant time due to his injuries, but those aren’t considered to be season-ending. Local authorities are investigating the incident.

I don't even know what to say.
Obviously, all the best to Kelly, but dear Lord, the weirdest shit seems to happen too often in this town.

He's lucky with no other internal injuries as well as no torn knee ligaments, nothing that requires surgery and rehab, nothing that will limit his athleticism when he returns this season.

Welp, there's a major target going to a division rival. Next?
