thought maybe Fangio's philosophy had something to do with it but after reading this...

'"Fangio’s defense focuses on limiting explosive plays by playing heavy zone coverage and tricking teams into running the ball when it looks advantageous but really isn’t.

Fangio’s defenses don’t blitz a lot either. His Denver defenses never finished higher than 13th in the NFL in blitz rate, according to Sports Info Solutions.

The idea is to limit explosive passing plays, force teams to run the football and then win with four pass rushers up front. Fangio aims to do this through a lot of post-snap movement, keeping offenses on their toes."

i added the bold. mustve been purely money and from that standpoint, i get it as Reddick is "older."

I think Reddick is gone because Fangio runs a more pure 3-4 and as a OLB, Reddick is really limited. He's a pass rusher, he is not much of a LB. He struggled with other teams when he was asked to actually play OLB. He became a force when he focused on DE duties. He was terrible last year dropping into coverage.

Since Fangio prefers to send 4, either OLB must be able to effectively drop into coverage. Huff is a better option as a 3-4 OLB.

Considering what we had 13th is probably pretty good blitz rate.

Outstanding.

[Wide receiver Devonta Smith is in his fourth year with the Eagles and he's set to remain with the team for four more years.

The Eagles announced that they have exercised their fifth-year option on Smith's rookie contract for the 2025 season and that they have agreed to terms on a three-year extension with the wideout. That ties Smith to the Eagles through the 2028 season.

Smith's 2025 salary will be $15.591 million and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the extension is worth $75 million. That total includes $51 million in guaranteed money.]

Now no.more ridiculous, reckless speculation of Smith not being retained after this season.

Isiah Rodgers reinstated in full. Wonder what impact, if any, this will have on draft plans. I think they still need to draft someone but with Bradberry, Slay and Maddox presumably the starters and with a couple young guys still there (Ringo, Ricks), maybe not a huge need. But hopefully they get rid of 1 of Bradberry/ Slay and draft someone high.

They are paying Bradberry too much to cut so he will have to compete with a new rookie, Isiah Rodgers and the mix of (Ringo, Ricks) Does anyone know if Isiah Rodgers can play nickel/slot corner?
