Other than the penalty assisted 75 yard TD; Rams shut the Bengals down

So much for it being all about the QBs, huh?
Jeff. Howie. Fix the fucking defense.

Cooper Kupp the MVP. Decent but not great game overall.

Re: Around the League Playoff GDT
After all this overheated rhetoric about QBs, that's what we get in the SB? Average, pedestrian QB play, defenses that held high powered offenses in check, terrorized the QBs and 43 combined points. A QB couldn't even win MVP.
Defense still wins.
Defense still wins.

That's why I call bullshit...Jalen could have done just as well tonight. When a QB does not have time, most of them look pedestrian. Hell even Mahomes looked bad last year against TB defense.
All the more reason you keep Jalen and use FA for some holes and the draft to get younger while filling holes.

Yes but it's a myth that Jalen didn't have time in the pocket in their playoff loss. Just because you drop your head bolt doesn't mean there is no pocket. If Burrow had the time our OL would give him, he'd be the MVP.headclown wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 5:20 am That's why I call bullshit...Jalen could have done just as well tonight. Either way, this OTHER QB talk is just fucking ridiculous. And I ask this seriously, how do you pay for him and correct the roster? Sure you could probably pull a Saints move and move all your money to 2 years down the road and be $80M over the cap. This is a team that in growth period, we just won the SB 4 years ago. Take a breath, build the roster and see if Jalen can improve. Dude is 23 and has all the intangibles, YES he must be better in many things, but the team is not ready to get ONE guy and it all gets fixed. Hell the Packers and Seattle had that guy and still fell below expectations...but they come to the Eagles and we win the SB.....bullshit.

I think we can agree that the Eagles are in a really tough spot. They have assets to get a QB in this draft but there is no clear target. If there are QBs to draft next year, the Eagles will not be in position to draft one because they are a middling playoff team that will have much less draft capital to offer in 2023.headclown wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 5:54 pm Either way, this OTHER QB talk is just fucking ridiculous. Ideally Hurts takes a big step forward in his development next year. Personally, I don't see that happening but I wish I did.
The next best scenario is that one of top 3 QBs in this draft falls to them and he turns out to be a player. It's little more than a guess but I like Pickett and Corral better than Hurts right now. Pickett completed 79% of his passes this year and Corral is a dynamic player. Don't know what to make of Willis but I could see Howie saying he couldn't pass him up. One of those guys should be there to draft and you preserve 3 of your top 4 picks to fix the roster.
The last resort it to trade a package for Wilson that allows them to retain two of their 1st round picks so they can fill glaring holes, say a 1 and a 2 plus next years' 1. I would ride with Hurts before overpaying for an aging Wilson.

Re: Around the League Playoff GDT
ESPN's attempt to mock out potential offseason QB trades had the Eagles making this offer:
QB Jalen Hurts, two 2022 first-rounders (Nos. 15, 16) and 2023 second-rounder for Russell Wilson.
I suspect that's too light an offer and it really leaves the Eagles short-handed in attempting to fill all the other holes.
Also, the ESPN mock had the Seahawks rejecting that trade.

Seeing how the rest of the games turned out, I think it's pretty clear that the Stafford-to-Kupp pass in the final moments of the Rams-Bucs game saved us from Tom Brady winning another Super Bowl. He wasn't going to lose to the 49ers or Bengals.
