Older fans will remember the last Phillies home Saturday playoff afternoon win. George Vuckovich's walk off HR

Last home Saturday afternoon home playoff game - a depressing 1 run loss behind John Denny in game 4 of the 83 WS

To that end, we need to avoid Game 5, because I think Strider would be available to throw 15 or so 100 mph fastballs, seeking some redemption.

Offense just needs to take away some of the angst in pitching decisions
I'm all for that, but clinchers are rarely easy.

They gotta be concerned about Morton. Yeah good record in elimination games but he hasn’t been good the past month and got torched by the Phillies last time they faced him. Could be early runs by both teams. Need to find someone for those middle innings.

Everything is situational, of course, but I have a slight concern that Thomson is going to try to avoid making the same mistake that Snitker made with Strider and have a quick hook for Thor. If at all possible, we need Thor to go at least 4 innings. A quick hook can be just as bad as waiting too long, because then you're into all the rest of the pitchers and you starting trying to count outs, assuming you're even ahead.

Braves in a much better position with pitching. They can Morton-McHugh-Minter-Jansen today and then have both Fried & Wright tomorrow on their home field.

Thomson must play this smartly.

I hope Thor is stoked and looking at this as chance to pitching 5 strong innings and add MILLIONS to his free agency payday this winter.

Haven't been this nervous since Games 4 and 5 of the 2011 NLDS.

The difference is that, in 2011, I knew that if the Phillies got past the Cardinals, there was probably a 75% chance of winning the World Series.

This team isn't winning the World Series, but the Final Four would be oh so sweet.

All that we can hope for is a Moyer-esque WS game 3 performance with him painting corners and a favorable home plate ump.

and the defense can't give the Braves extra outs
