Marlins winning is good for the Phillies, I think. They're going with an opener/bullpen game tomorrow
Cubs tied with Brewers in 9th
DIamondbacks are scoreless vs. Astros. They're slated to start Kelly tomorrow.

If Arizona uses up all its pitching AND knocks Houston out of the playoffs, that would be something. But let's not get ahead of ourselves

If the Phillies hadn't taken care of business and had dropped 3-4 games here or there, they'd be in the midst of a 5-teams-for-3-spots MESS right now.

If the Dbacks are the opponent, I think that the Phils may have been better off facing their rotation in order.

As you said the other day, makes game 1 close to a must win

Dbacks going to have the starting pitching advantage in games 2/3 if they have to use Kelly tomorrow

Though, if the scores hold, the Marlins are starting to look like the more likely opponent

Marlins would likely have to play that 1 inning on Monday in NYC.

What a nightmare month for the Cubs. Loss in extras tonight.

Cubs just fell apart down the stretch; 6-14 in their last 20

With the Dbacks playing 2 more with Houston; looking more like the Marlins for 2nd WC seed

Astros beat Diamondbacks 2-1, thanks to a great "emergency start" by their 37th best pitcher, Jose Urquidy. SMH.

I think that's also reflective of the Arizona offense, which ain't much.

Matt Gelb saying that the Phils can't swap anyone on their active roster to bring in AAA pitchers to help cover these innings as they would be ineligible for the WC round?

I thought that everything resets for the post season?

If correct -how do they get through 9 innings tomorrow without using needed relivers?

Need at least 7 today from Walker. Maybe 2 from Sanchez and then a full bullpen game for game 2?

Tomorrow - start Lorenzen and hope to get at least 6 and try to have Covey complete?

Rather lose all 3 so that they just need 24 innings instead of 27

If/when the Cubs miss the playoffs, there's going to be a ton of pressure on them to give Bellinger a huge payday. Otherwise, what was point, some will say.

They're going to lose Stroman, too. Big candidate for reverting to 70-75 wins next year.

No Covey or Castro?- there goes our playoff hopes
With Covey on the IL, they can now swap pitchers in/out to help cover these innings

Matt Gelb
@MattGelb

Phillies have also brought Mike Plassmeyer here. He’s probably starting the second game tonight. They’ll make more roster moves between games.

Scott Lauber
@ScottLauber

#Phillies roster moves:
—RHP Dylan Covey to the 15-day IL (retro to 9/28) with low back pain.
—Recalled INF/OF Weston Wilson and RHP Luis Ortiz from Lehigh Valley.
—Optioned INF Rodolfo Castro to the “stay-ready camp” in Clearwater.

I mean, we can assume the Phillies know what they are doing and know the rules.

LOL at the 'low back pain" for Covey. At least they didn't have to treat him like the goalkeeper in "Victory"

So it's down to Pache or Wilson for the final bench spot, or am I missing something. They could also use just 12 pitchers for the wild card and, if they advance, would certainly use 13 for the NLDS
