Nola wasn’t going to shut them down, but he needs to settle down now.
And the Phillies offense needs to work a few counts against verlander. They are playing into his hand with all the early swings

Nola is pushing the ball to the plate, his elbow is dropping and the ball is sitting up. He is VERY hittable when the ball is up.
If he's not careful he won't make it out of the 2nd inning. Astros are ready to pounce on weakness.

That’s exactly what happened to him in San Diego, Bel.

Nola simply doesn’t have it tonight.
Meltdown inning looks to be in full swing

Hitting them where they aren't. Thankfully the double play saves Nola...
Let's hit!

I mean Tucker crushed a ball and then basically garbage luck from the Astros.
Normally the Maldonado ball is a double play. McCormick got a hit on a jam shot. Astros are just annoying

Homer clearly rattled Nola.
Luckily altuve grounded into a double play.
Hopefully, Nola can settle down for a few innings so the middle of the pen doesn’t have to come in.
Offense needs to do some damage
