See how this story plays out.

Dodgers lose Scherzer and Seager. Pivot to Bryant and one of the big shortstops.

Phillies lol

There's buzz Seager will sign Monday, but no one even knows what team! The only team with any buzz around him is ... Texas, where there is no personal income tax

Word is Scherzer gets 3/130 ($43.3M AAV) from Mets.
Unlike Midds, Cohen wants to win

When Scherzer is completed, #Mets payroll will project to around $265M — and I don’t think they are done. Of course, they can trade some surplus $$, but with Scherzer and potentialy Seager off #Dodgers, NYM almost certain to become the No. 1 payroll in MLB

Spend or sell, Midds

Can't understate how Scherzer has affected the NL East. ....
Phillies now have to face him regularly again with him on the Mets.
Meanwhile, the Nationals parlayed Scherzer (and Turner) into Keibert Ruiz and Josiah Gray, who are two young prospects arguably better than anyone in the Phillies' system.

Two executives believe Corey Seager will sign today. Javier Baez could also get done before the end of the day. Max Scherzer’s deal is only the start of what could be a busy Monday.

Reigning AL Cy Young winner Robbie Ray and the Seattle Mariners are finalizing a five-year, $115 million contract with an opt-out after the third season, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.

If that's the price for Ray, then Stroman is surely under $75M. The Phillies should absolutely do that.
The thing is, The Phillies are no longer (unless they make 3-4 moves) a team that is going to outslug people.
But a rotation of Wheeler-Nola-Stroman-Suarez-Gibson (with Eflin midseason) keeps you in a LOT of games, as then you add some bats in July (a la the World Champion Braves) if needed.
