I think baseball is already in danger of losing the traditional fans due to the way the game has changed. A prolonged lockout might also turn off the younger fans.

Why would the Cubs want Stoman, especially at that price...they just sold their team off. He does not move their needle

It's nice to think there's a team that doesn't think rebuild means full tank.

Low-key but potentially great move by the Red Sox picking up Alex Binelas in that JBJ trade with with the Brewers. Basically, they bought Binelas by eating JBR's ugly contract. .... Binelas a corner outfielder thumper who is the #65 prospect in MLB.

I really like the @jaysonst idea of leading the MLB draft with the first team to miss the playoffs and so on until you get to the worst team, which is almost always tanking.

I dunno. That's a hell of a reward for a hypothetical team (no one I know, for sure) that did too little at the trade deadline and then came up just short of the second wild card.

I'd rather see something NBA style, a weighted lottery involving all teams that miss the playoffs.

Any time that you know beforehand *exactly* what will net the #1 pick, there's a chance of a certain kind of tanking. Imagine if your team enters the final week of the season tied for the last playoff spot, and you know that missing that playoffs would get you Bryce Harper or Stephen Strasburg.
