The perfect example to show why this defense struggles was the seam pass to Ferguson. In the frame, Blankenship is running backwards on the snap, even though Ferguson is running the seam. They are so afraid of getting beat over the top that they ignore the shorter threat. If Blankenship is moving forward, he meets the ball and had a chance to break it up or INT the throw. Instead, it's just an easy pitch and catch.

There are holes created because the defense is always backing up. There are too many gaps.

There's the flaw in the offensive scheme not giving Hurts any hot routes on blitzes. Brown is running down field with his back to the play. No one is within 5yds of the LOS for a dump pass behind the blitz. If Hurts can't escape, it's a dead play. They can't convert.
