Eliot Shorr-Parks:
The numbers are in on the Saquon Barkley contract Some notes/thoughts:
** The cap hit for 2024 is very low, as expected. Only $3.9m. Less than 2% of the cap. So very little impact to the cap this year.
** It is basically a two-year deal.
** The base salary for 2025 is $11m. It is fully guaranteed and is most of the $13.5m cap hit. If he has a strong 2024, my guess is that his contract is restructured to lower his base salary, moved into future years and lower that cap hit. So if he has a great/healthy 2024, that 2025 cap hit will likely be lower.
** It is two years, a low cap hit in 2024, a decent sized cap hit in 2025 and then they cut him before 2026 for a $8m dead cap hit while also saving $7m in cap space
** If he is still a great running back entering the 2026 season (and haven't already restructured his deal) they will almost def extend him and lower that $12m base salary/$15m cap hit significantly.
** Two dummy years added on -- so while really a 3-year deal, the signing bonus is stretched out over 5 years

apparently the 6MM per is tied with Tucker as highest ever. wish they would have given him a bit more to make him the highest. deserves it IMO

The jackals and vultures at WIP are longing for Fields or anything that allows them to push their agenda, their bloodlust for a QB controversy to drive ratings.
Their passive aggressive attacks on Hurts are disgusting.

I hear ya there. I am just wondering if the rumor is true are they trying to either just trying to get another QB who fits the scheme, or doing something they tried with Vick a while back and go wildcat?BelmontShore wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 8:12 pmThe jackals and vultures at WIP are longing for Fields or anything that allows them to push their agenda, their bloodlust for a QB controversy to drive ratings.

You're right though. The minute Hurts has an issue they will be salivating for Fields.

If the Eagles bring in Fields, WIP will begin the calls for him in late Spring and go right into training camp. They will have it 1A and QB.

Please say no to Fields. I think David Murphy state the risk/reward very well in his column. It ain't worth it.
