UGH, Union has agreed to this because they want to (understandably & correctly) focus on the economic issues where the owners are trying to screw them, and they needed something to compromise on. Also, sadly, I suspect many among the players think this will benefit them and the game.

==========

"Players union agreed to allow MLB to ban shifts, implement a pitch clock and make bases larger in 2023, subject to those agreements fitting into a total deal."

Phillies bullpen's streak of not blowing a game extended until at least 4/14

Can't wait until the entire season is cancelled

Of course the owners DGAF but it was kind of dumb to sign those big streaming deals right in the middle of negotiations and show everyone how much additional revenue they're raking in

Color me dubious, but there's buzz that there's at least a chance of a deal today.
Could be followed by free agency resuming within 48 hours, meaning a quick adrenaline rush of Phillies heartache

If there’s an agreement and both sides ratify today, free agency can start TONIGHT, per source.

Looks like the momentum is there to resolve now that the international draft is no longer at issue

Report I saw expects full schedule with season starting 4/5 if resolved today

Less than 4 weeks of spring training is maybe going to flip that script on pitchers being ahead of the hitters. Likely to see some six-man rotations and success from teams with good, deep bullpens in the early weeks of the season.

In other words....

Union executive board appears to be voting against approval. Uncertain how this could affect full player vote.

I'm OK with players trying to squeeze a little more out of owners in final 24 hours. Owners' offer was much better, but players can still get a little more.

Looks like the 3 p.m. vote is leaning toward NO. Owners put some poison pills into the deal, regarding the union dropping some ongoing grievance lawsuits
