Vigneault Watch

It's just a matter of time, now, really. Right?

Five games in seven days next starting with TB and the Avs back to back at home Sunday and Monday. It would be a gauntlet for a good team. For one that can’t score or defend well like the Flyers, it’s a death march. When was the last time that a Flyers team’s season was cooked by mid or early December?

Vigneault has been a disappointment, no doubt. But this is not only on him. For many years we have been in need of a legitimate high caliber goal scorer. Fletch has failed to give us one. He made moves to improve the defense this year. But until we have someone who can consistently put the puck in the net, we will continue to be a below average team.

This is gonna be one helluva bad stretch of Flyers' hockey.

Some of the worst we've seen in 40 years, 80s level bad, Jay Snider level bad.

It's on Clarke, Holmgren and Fletcher, but Alain is just not getting it done and they've quit on him. They never quit on Hakstol, like this.

Clarke and Holmgren have been out of the organization for seven years. To put this mess on them is disingenuous. Hextall and Fletcher have had time to put things in order. If anything, things on the ice have regressed. Their failures are why the Flyers are where they presently are. Most of all, since the passing of Ed Snider, things have slid. No organizational identity and, from there, no clear direction.

Let's be honest the only reason Chuck got the job is because he's buddy buddy with Clarke from being his assistant in Florida and they ran out of former Flyers to hire. When you can hire the architect of the definition of Flyers mediocrity in the west with the Wild you just gotta do it.

It’s time to add the captain to the watch-list.

They should do Giroux the favor of trading him to a franchise that isn't a joke. Great career wasted on this terrible organization.

There it is. It's finally over. I can smell these things.

Was watching the replay early this morning with the wife, told her this is the kind of game that gets a coach fired.

It's weird. It's kind of unique to hockey to see such visible signs that a team has quit on it's coach. It happens in other sports, but it just doesn't show up the way it does in hockey. When a team abandons the coach's system, there is disarray, there's chaos in their own end, players are pylons on defense and there's no effort to get to goal scoring areas.
