Phillies Minor Leagues Discussion Thread

Post by schooldoc »

Finally found my way back here.

Since the minors stuff was kinda my niche on the site back in the day, I thought I'd bring back a minor league thread. Game discussion, transactions, draft, prospect talk/rankings, etc. can all go here. I used to do daily recaps, but I won't be contributing at that level. Still, I'll be checking in.

I've got one kind of fun thing to report. I have been working for the BlueClaws this year on the game day Production side. I kind of fill in where they need me. I've done some camera work, worked 3 games as PA announcer, and lately I've been running the scoreboard which is probably what I'll be doing most games as the summer wears on. It's really fun to go to "work" at the ballpark and the BlueClaws have been great to me. It's a well-run organization with good people all around.

Thanks, Bel. Good to be here. Thanks for helping me get back up and running.

The BlueClaws lost today to Hudson Valley, 9-3, in a "Camp Day" 11:05 am start. Hudson Valley stole 11 bases on the day without being caught.

Most noteworthy elsewhere for the Phils' minor leagues today is probably RHP Griff McGarry's AA debut with Reading, tonight at Richmond.

Loved your report,Doc…welcome back
How bout an update on O’Hoppe. Looks like he has only played 2 games since June 23rd
Is he hurt or just getting rested. Looks also like he’s really cooled offfrom his hot start.

Yeah, I noticed O'Hoppe missed about 7-10 days, but I'm not sure why. He came back a few days ago and DH'd, but didn't play last night. He was selected to the Futures Game along with Reading LHP Erik Miller, who hasn't pitched in about a month.

A few MLB rehabbers have surfaced the past few days:
Johan Camargo is now with LHV
Nick Maton is with CLW
JoJo Romero is working his way up the ladder, he is now with LHV

Any prospects not being talked about who you see potential in?

It was reported that O'Hoppe was seriously sick with a non Covid illness. He lost weight and stamina. They're going to bring him back slowly.
