If the Phillies get in as the #3 wild card, their first round opponent is likely the NL Central winner, Milwaukee or St. Louis. That's a winnable series.

Then you're in the NLDS and anything can happen at that point. They should be aggressive to give themselves a shot at an October surprise.

Yep and their offense is built that it can get hot at any point and crush folks. Gotta give themselves a chance

They're also looking at an ownership change in the next 1-2 years, and so the new owner will have a big say in how aggressive they become. If another Cohen enters the division, look out. If it's just someone who will cry "small market," then we should be OK

With Juan Soto seemingly headed to San Diego, the Dodgers are looking at Ian Happ and David Robertson of the Cubs, per sources. Plenty of competition for both players, however. Mets said to be interested in Robertson and Willson Contreras, as well

Eric Hosmer rejected the trade to Washington and will not be part of the Soto deal, per source. Now the Padres have less than five hours to figure out what to do with Hosmer, who is owed $39 million from 2023-25.

Marlins are trading relievers Anthony Bass and Zach Pop to the Blue Jays for Jordan Groshans per source.

(Weakening the Marlins' bullpen is good news for the Phillies)
