Thomson's failure to move Schwarber out of leadoff is, in itself, a reason not to bring him back.
I really don't understand why multiple teams have been fascinated with the idea of him atop the lineup in recent years. He's a seven-hole hitter most of the time and maybe a #5 guy when he's on a good streak

The new MLB rules starting next year, which will bring 70-stole-base guys back to baseball are going to make it crucial strategically to have a guy with good OBP and good wheels in the 1/2 spots.

The new rules will favor guys who make contact, have speed, and play defense and superior pitching
The Phillies need a makeover or they cannot compete with the Braves and Mets

Depending on how Wheeler looks, maybe this is Gibson's last start as a Phillie

Gibsonis quite trashy. On their way to 10 in a row. And why is Michael Bourn waving pompoms inthe booth, and why ishethere, anyway?

I blame your bad juju ;)

I have been worried for a month that this 9 game stretch would be a disaster. I thought 2-7 at best, but that may have been too optimistic.

With the pitching matchup tonight and the Phils lack of offense - tonight's outcome was never in doubt
