And I do think they'll still slip into the playoffs. The Brewers are ... not good.

But we'll be forced to settle for Gibson & Thor in Games 1 and 2 vs. the Cardinals, lol

Just blow this up and start over
That is what I would do, but they won't. Segura will go and they will replace him; add a few low end starters and some reliever lottery tickets

Next year will be the same 80-85 wins; in the wild card hunt, but will come up short as usual
I sadly agree. I’ve been advocating for starting over for the past few seasons. This group has shown they are nothing but losers
I know that I am seen as negative poster (and justifiably so) and was attacked by a sporadic poster as "fatalist", but you could see this coming for weeks. I have hoped repeatedly that I would be proven wrong. You could see the "oil" leaking in August, even when they were winning, but the signs were there. It became clear on the west coast trip.

Now they will just be pressing the rest of this week. Maybe they split with the Nats, but no result in that series would shock me

Well, we don't agree on the first part, but if you are right (and I would be thrilled if you were), it would still be Wheeler, Nola because they are pitching Sunday/Monday (assuming Sunday is not rained out).

And they'll again be forced to throw away money on bullpen veterans because of lack of developing arms.
They signed 2 big $ FA last winter, and their attendance was meh, especially in Sept,

Other than post season success, nothing is going to create more interest, fans just don't believe this team and understandably so

The exception would be if they signed Aaron Judge....

(and I would be on board with signing Judge and trading Harper to fill other holes, but that won't happen)

If you watch this team's hitters, the one thing you see almost to a man, is they will watch the most hittable pitch of their at bats go by for strikes and then swing at garbage the rest of the at bat until they're in defensive swing time with 2 strikes.

It's infuriating as hell that they are never ready to hit off the fastball.

Yeah, I don’t see any FA signings sparking interest in this team. The fans know these guys will choke in September

Judge is going to sign an 8-year- deal, play an average of 110 games the next three seasons, and then be an albatross

They're built to be a 1993 or 2008 style team that has long at-bats and gets deep into a team's bullpen, but that style of baseball doesn't work or exist any more. Teams know the one thing you can't do vs. the Phillies is walk guys, so they throw strikes. Phillies haven't caught on.
