8-7.
Manager takes out his closer to bring in a starter, Ray, to get out Alvarez

Let the second guessing begin

Honestly, it's a "there but for the grace ... go we" moment.
Thomson -- who doesn't have much of a pen -- played with fire all day long.
He's been using his No. 4/5 starter as a closer for the past week, to decidedly mixed results.

Phillies could have easily been on the wrong end of 8-7 today after a big early lead. Especially if Castellanos lets that ball roll to the wall.

All of which is to say, it's October baby.

Darvish has always been awesome.

Yu Darvish was asked if he had any thoughts on how he might handle the situation Musgrove was in Sunday with the umpire, should it happen to him. “Anybody can come up and touch my ears, touch my nose, touch my whatever.”

Oh I know - trust me

I had to focus on work today as I needed to make sure that all of the accounting was done for month end close. I decided to not follow the game as that would be too distracting. Co-workers sent cryptic texts and I knew that they were up big early. When I put it on it was just after Olson's HR. I had none of the joy from the game, just the immediate dread. Even though they won, the what if on the Castellanos catch, has been running through my mind almost non-stop for 4 hours and the Mariners loss (who also had a 7-3 lead late) did not help,

I was on cloud 9 after Friday and Saturday's game. My enthusiasm to this win was muted

Oh I find this win way greater than either Cardinals game. This was the surprise we needed to have *any* chance in the series. I knew Atlanta would make a run at some point. We fended them off. That’s all that matters. No one will remember the Mariners’ lead today. But no one will remember Olson either. However it plays out, we’re 2 wins from the NLCS with Wheeler & Nola lined up. Pretty cool and once unfathomable. We’re in the gravy part of the season. Gotta enjoy it

MLB to determine whether Yankees-Guardians starts after 9 p.m. (due to rain) or PPD to tomorrow

(a PPD would really benefit Yankees' bullpen)
