I hope Robertson's strikeout of Bell is long-remembered in Phillies history.
It always feels like Thomson is walking such a tightrope with this bullpen, and that one pitch/at-bat could just send a game spiraling.

I thought we'd score tonight, but I did not have "Phillies outscore Padres 10-2 after Falter leaves with two outs in the first."
The Padres' offense lacked the killer instinct in a way that we've complained about so often with the Phillies this summer. How many times did we see the Phillies jump out to a crooked-number lead and then cool off?

Wow -I have seen every Phillies playoff game since 1976

That was one of the most improbable wins

Phils bullpen gave up 2 runs innings 2 through 9
Padres 7

Wow

I forgive this team for getting swept by the Cubs

I'm aware that power bullpens have greatly changed baseball, even since 2008.
But I never considered this a power bullpen and I sure as hell never thought we'd see a performance like this with so much on the line. Even Hand deserves some credit for only giving up the 2-spot (no shame in a Soto HR)

A psychologist could get a whole book out of this team. They simply were unable to put the pedal to the floor against mediocre teams and didn't respond until their backs were against the wall. As a small Cubs footnote, they were 38-31 after the All-Star Break and by no means an awful team like the Nationals. Lot of pride and pros on that roster.

Look at players like Rhys & Robertson - bad one day, winning the game another day

This team defies logic - and hopefully that continues

I think the "been there" guys (just Schwarber, Robertson and Thor, right?) will make sure this clubhouse know that tomorrow's game will the toughest game to win in their careers and make sure they get/stay in the right frame of mind.

I was at Hershey Park all day. Listened to the first three innings on my phone then the rest in the car up to Realmutos Homer.

Unreal comeback with this club. I can't believe the moves Thompson is making are sticking. I would've kept Thor in another inning and went with Robenson for the 9th. Hey, whatever. It's working!

One more win. Let's get it tomorrow. Do. Not want to go back to SD...

Two statistics....

Sarah Langs
@SlangsOnSports
teams to score 4+ runs in the top of the 1st are now 23-3 in postseason history

the losses:

Tonight, Padres to Phillies
1997 ALDS G1, Cleveland to Yankees
1925 WS G7, Senators to Pirates

===============

Paul Hembekides
@PaulHembo
The Phillies are 20-9 all-time in the postseason at Citizens Bank Park.

That is the best record by any team in their home stadium in postseason history (min. 20 games).
