Harper's was the first HR Robert Suarez has allowed to a lefty. Austin Nola marveled at the 1-2 changeup Harper laid off.

"Unbelievable take," Nola said. "Unbelievable take. That's the pitch he swings at. The fact he patiented up and took it -- that's Suarez's best pitch."

This team has more 1993 in it than I thought. Who the hell still smokes? https://twitter.com/byalexcoffey/status ... 6328052738

On the downside, the hopes that many of us had that this team would have a major overhaul in the offseason is off the table.

Worth it

110% worth.
I still think, though, that either Segura or Hoskins is gone and they'll spend some money, depending on what direction they want to go with the infield.

This October has been a hell of a pitch to free agents, no?
For all the clutch that Segura has been, Trea Turner would be the perfect fit for this lineup

I also hope that this run takes some of the urgency off the beginning of next season. In the sense that I'd like to see them go slowly with the kids, with the idea that I'd rather have a guy like Painter available to pitch in October than April. I think the Braves overworked Strider, and what did that get them when it mattered?

Loved Bryce mouthing "oh my gosh, I just did that" in the dugout after the home run, in as much disbelief as the rest of us.
He's really still just a kid. Just turned 30. At 30 I still barely understood the world.
He got to the MLB because he's just a physical specimen who murders baseball.
But he's become one of the smartest players in the game, too, with his approach to at-bats.

A reminder, too, that Bryce Harper WANTED to be a Yankee.
But they were into their two-pronged plan of trading for Stanton's big contract & then saving the rest of their money for Gerrit Cole's free agency.
They still owe Cole 6/216.
It takes a little luck in the universe, too. Phillies don't land Harper if the Yankees had been a suitor.

Also, has someone has noted, the Phillies are the first franchise from the 2009 World Series to make it BACK to the World Series.

The Astros have arguably the best pitching in baseball, but they're also not dummies. I can see Harper getting a ton of walks in the World Series, and he'll have to take them, rather than try to do too much with junk pitches. If we have any chance at all vs. Houston, Castellanos will need a big series.

Seen on the Red Sox message board: "I want Philadelphia‘s bullpen arms"

We are truly in bizarro times.
