He was aggressive as hell. He recognized the big-game moments, regardless of inning, and went for it. No, not 100% of his moves worked. But at least he made moves. I feel like Melvin was extremely conservative, when the Padres arguably had more pitching depth than the paper-thin Phillies. Hader only faced 3 batters in 5 games.
He is well rested for game 6 at least

I credit this tweet, written in awe of 31-year-old rookie Robert Suarez, for jinxing him and winning the game

Hopefully this inspires the 76ers to fire Doc Rivers and make Sam Cassell the interim head coach.

Also, the Padres fans who are defending Melvin by saying that "closers don't get six outs" apparently didn't watch the same series I did.

Also, I think Philadelphia would crack in two and fall into the fiery depths of hell in outrage if we ever made a sacrifice bunt the next-to-last out of a must-win game.

Terrible move. Ruined our draft lottery chances.

I had assumed that he was bunting for a hit

That was Melvin's excuse. I still think it was a dumb dumb idea. If either Grisham or Nola single, it's a tie game. Give yourself two shots.

Finally heard Franzke's call of Harper's home run, with Larry screaming YES in the background.
