That's my whole point. He was solid down the stretch and then the Phillies mothballed him for 17 days until Game 4 of the NLCS. It all worked out. They won the pennant without him. But I guess I just think, in theory, that he could have been a more useful piece than Gibson or Nelson if there had been a way to get him some innings. Was there a way? I dunno. .... So far, Phillies have had to win Thor/Suarez games to advance. That will be the case again. And we'll definitely have to send Gibson out there to eat innings if we get blown out early in a game. Can't risk the better arms.

Astros have really good #s against LHs. I think I saw something like 18-1 the 2nd half of the year I am guessing that factored into their decision

Reality is, if Gibson, Nelson, or Falter are going to be used in a WS game - probably a loss anyway

Astros success against LH makes Suarez's start(s) more worrisome, but that is not a concern for tonight

Verlander keeping his fastball up like that will get a lot of outs against the Phils.

Will the Phillies ever get a hit over Verlander? 7 no hit now this season

Some fans put way too much into his prior WS history trends. Just like with Nola in Sept. Prior history of struggles for good players will eventually turnaround
