Chris - you reference taking the crowd out of the game

That is why Hoskins HR in the bottom of the 1st in game 4 was so big. Bryce's HR ultimately win the series, but Rhys's was huge

I'd also be curious in what percentage of innings this postseason have the Phillies been playing with a lead. That just changes the whole dynamic of confidence for both pitchers and hitters.

In terms of when the opponent was batting

Cards
G1 1/9
G2 8/9

Braves
G1 9/9
G2 0/9
G3 6/9
G4 7/9

Padres
G1 6/9
G2 4/9
G3 8/9
G4 4/9
G5 5/9

So 58 innings out of 99 = 59%

All that depth in the Astros bullpen can be negated in a 7 game series by our 3 bullpen arms IF they perform. The WS is not a question of which team is better, it's which team will be the first to 4 wins. Let's go!

An interesting guy in this series could be reliever Will Smith, who the Astros are likely to place on their roster as their lone bulllpen LH. Phillies pretty familiar with him, though.

And when you remove the two losses, percentage is even higher. It sounds obvious, but one of the keys to the Phillies' success pitching is that they were almost always pitching to anxious hitters who were likely pressing, trying to get back into the game. The game is so much easier when you play from ahead, even by a run.

Astros' Kyle Tucker: “Hopefully we just win in 4…. We’re hoping to get it out of the way early.”

Phillies put Nick Nelson and Nick Maton on the World Series roster. They took off Bailey Falter and Dalton Guthrie.

BIG AGREE on Maton over Guthrie
DISAGREE on removing Falter from the roster. But at this point they've used him so little that I guess there wasn't a point. Obviously we've won 3 series in a row and that's all that matters, but I wish they could have found a couple more innings to help Falter's comfort level. There's now a much higher likelihood we'll be seeing Gibson in the Series.

Really hope that Game 4 can be:
Thor: 4
Bellatti
Brogdon

rather than a default to 1-2 innings from Nelson. But that's getting ahead of things.
None of this is Thor's choice, or course, but shouldn't he be motivated to go out there and give 5 strong innings? None of this is helping his pending free agency value.

what did FAlter show you that merited a spot. His FB was pin straight and not very fast. AStros would destroy him.
