Strong disagree.
We're losing to a much better, much deeper team.

Christopher wrote: Sun Nov 06, 2022 2:15 am Move was fine. It didn't work. Wheeler gave them everything he had. You're not getting 7-8 out of guys vs. the Astros at this point. Nola and Wheeler have put everything out there.

Alvarado has been kicking ass, too. But he's not perfect.
Alvarado has been hit hard in this series. Topper managed scared there and likely cost the team any chance of getting to game seven.

And Alvarado continues to melt down

This is not how any of this was supposed to happen.

True.

But no data supported continuing to go to lefties versus Alvarez. He pulverized them.

Hindsight is 20/20. If Wheeler stays in and gets pummeled by heart of the order (Already gave up 2 runners), Thomson would be 100% getting blasted by some of the fans, too. You go with who got you here. Wheeler is not the same late-game pitcher in early November as he was when the playoff run started

Respectfully disagree...

Wheeler is your.best horse and could've saw that through. No reason to yank him on 70 pitches.

That's Kapler stuff there. Sorry.

Rather have stayed with wheeler then Alvarado who got scorched in game 5 and hasn’t been great this series.

Sorry Chris, there is no defending this move. Topper managed scared.

Topper had a bad series.

Letting Nola pitch into the 5th was one of the more brutal decisions. But Alvarado has been at lower velocity the last few outings.

He was bad, it’s fine

No, it's the same Thomson tactics that got us to Game 6 of the World Series. We're not playing on Nov. 5 without that aggressive and outside the box use of relievers, plus identifying when starters should be removed. Of course it doesn't 100%, but it's worked alot.

Kapler stuff would be hitting the golf course after the season-ending series in Houston

I'll give you that one. Nola should have come out earlier. And this was the right roll of dice on Wheeler, unless you want to argue Dominguez (or even Suarez) there.

Can't be a genius manager when the near entire staff is gassed.
