Heaney to the Rangers.
Of the mid-level available starters available, I thought he represented the most risk. Phillies need to lean toward stability/guaranteed innings

Stripling also bounced between the starting rotation and the bullpen.
Stripling pitched against the Phillies twice last season. The first game was in Toronto. He did well against a Bryce-less club that was short players who had not vaxed. In his second start in Philly, against the full line up, he didn’t get through the fifth and gave up nine hits in a wild game.

My order of interest is:
Taillon
Walker
Quintana
Stripling last

I wish Dombrowski had asked.....

Phils were aggressive and got their 2 top needs resolved

At this point - I guess they add a reliever or 2

Walker is ok - better than Gibson. Hopefully a healthier Eflin level pitcher

Much better. I saw him pitch every game this year for the Mets
He throws 94-96,decent slider. Good #4.

Rhys as mediocre defensive 1B with one year left before free agency and an expected $12 million arbitration salary in 2023 isn't getting you a 3/4. He probably isn't even getting you a decent #5. Maybe he gets you some team's #23 prospect, and then you're just added $4 million (Bell's getting $16.5M) to what it costs you at 1B next year. And committed to Bell for 2024. Hoskins, at this point, is far more valuable as a Phillie for 2023 than any other scenario, especially with no Harper in the first half.

I like him a lot. I think the Phillies were genuinely interested in Taillon, but there were more teams swirling around him, making me think he's going to get five years or 4/80. Phillies made sure they didn't shut out on the top remaining starters.

I want Nola extended too, but now there's insurance. If Nola walks, you're still starting with Wheeler/Walker/Suarez/Painter as the foundation of the 2024 rotation, with more kids in the wings. Not enough, but not a nightmare either.
