Another lefty would be good, but I don't think it's a high priority.
If Britton is cheap. there's little risk. But the guy just can't seem to get healthy.

So, obviously the offseason is not over. And the Correa situation is not resolved. But I'm curious about everyone's thoughts on 2023 at this point.

In my situation, in order to hazard predictions, I use this as my basis:

1. Take into account known injuries headed into 2023 (like Bryce Harper)
2. but otherwise assume that everyone will be healthy
3. BUT it's OK to take age and eventual age-based regression into account

So here's where I'm at:

NL EAST
1. Braves. If healthy, best roster in the NL.
2. Phillies, narrowly
3. Mets, superb additions, but a lot of question marks

NL CENTRAL
1. Cardinals
2. Cubs, who I think could make the biggest surge in the NL from last year
3. Brewers (I think they'll have the biggest drop-off and then deal one of their aces at the deadline)

NL WEST
1. Dodgers/Padres just about interchangeable. I think the runner-up will be the #1 wild card.

As far as the wild cards, I think it's #1 Padres/Dodgers, #2 Phillies, #3 Mets. So we could see Mets & Phillies flopping their roads from last year, and a possible best-of-3 wild card where Phillies must travel to LA or SD.

FIRST BIG MOVE OF THE NEW YEAR

The Phillies have acquired RHP Erich Uelmen from the Cubs for cash considerations. Vinny Nittoli was DFA’d to make room on the 40-man roster.

Phillies DFA Francisco Morales to make room for Kimbrel on the 40-man

Winkelman goes bonkers, says Morales is the team's #13 prospect and they have 4-5 trash pitchers on the 40-man.

So suspicion is that Morales will be traded as part of the DFA process

I have to admit, this one has me puzzled. The last five or six players on the 40-man are marginal. I think Morales is better than that.

Salsbury tweeting a potential trade for Gregory Soto from Detroit with Morales being part of the deal.

Monster pick up if it goes down.

Walks too many batters - we would be stressed if he is pitching

Ha!

Which is pretty much the entire bullpen last 3 years. I'll give a little slack for last year though.

I like it.
I think it's best to have three lefties in the pen.
Alvarado was a project who has graduated from too wild to very effective.
Soto is too wild but there's talent to work with there. Give him a year as a sixth inning type and see if he can be unlocked.
