The Dombrowski/Fuld regime has been very aggressive about claiming and discarding waiver riff-raff, using the final couple 40-man spots. Odds are this guy will be waived again by the end of December, though he could also just be someone to help shag flies during spring training

The Phillies were always likely to move on from Kyle Gibson. But worth noting: Before his dreadful September, he had a 4.08 ERA in 139 innings, league-average bulk that must now be replaced.

============

Gibson, Eflin & Thor made a combined 50 starts. Now down with Falter/Sanchez/Painter as the answer to that for 2023. Midds has to spend some coin on mid-rotation arm befitting the NL champs.

I'd certainly be amenable to bringing back Thor. I'd think another healthy offseason with a strong work out program could help him. Maybe he's looking for more but he'd be a decent insurance policy and possible trade bait at the deadline for something of need as Painter gets acclimated.

There it is.

Turner flirts with the Padres but says yes to the Phillies.

Awesome signing.

Let's boost the bench, add a starter and we are in business!

Rodon or Taillon might be nice signings but they would cost. Need to extend Nola. That won't be cheap with the numbers that are being thrown around these days. Might be more economical to sign Eovaldi and Stripling to fill the void until Painter, Abel and McGriff can come on board.
