Since it seems like a foregone conclusion, I hope the Phillies wrap things up with Trea Turner's huge contract sooner rather than later. Maybe they can even push back or spread out some of the money, to help them bring in another great SP for 2023.

No, not a foregone conclusion. I'd be surprised if the Phillies are outbid, but even they have their limits. If the numbers get too silly, they could opt for Boegarts -- not because they don't have the money for Turner, but because the money has gotten too ridiculous. I suspect that most teams will be happy giving out the second- or third-highest shortstop contract this winter, and will pass on Turner, hoping for a "bargain"

(Although I guess there's a chance Correa gets more than Turner, though that would surprise me)

Chris Martin is guy I'd look at for veteran bullpen depth, kind of taking the Robertson role, if he can be had for something like 1/6.
I think they're positioned to do pretty well back there, with some of the young arms emerging, but they need depth and a veteran can't hurt. He's also been very good in the postseason.

The Phillies have the money, the hitting coach, TT's best friend here and his wife wants to go back East. I'll be stunned if he goes elsewhere.

Eflin gets 3/40 from the Rays - wow. Wish him well

I think it's a smart deal for both sides.
If he can stay healthy and the Rays can do some of their magic with him, they have a very solid rotation piece right about at market value.
It's also a very movable contract after one year, again if Eflin is healthy. They'll have trade suitors in summer 2024 is someone is looking for a pitching boost in second half.

Obviously, the injury and future concern is almost everything here. If you had told me prior to 2022 that we had a chance to extend Eflin, starting with his age 29 season, for 3/40, I'd have been VERY intrigued. He was very close to pitching like a #3 in 2019. He doesn't walk guys. With the new balanced schedules in 2023, it's not like he'll be overexposed with multitudes of games vs. the AL East.
