Placido Polanco was the only good thing they got for Rolen. He was good here for 2.5 years (in his first stint) but then they stupidly traded him for Ugueth Urbina, whose role was basically #4 guy in bullpen

Off he top of my head. Was it Polanco, Mike Timlin, and a starter. Carpenter?

For some reason I can remember the trades Pretty well...

Thanks. There were a handful of younger guys that never panned out, (Joe Roa, Duckworth, Coggin, Josh Hancock). It didn't hurt them that bad though as the rotation shook itself out with Myers, Wolf, and Padilla. They all pitched well that year.

Phillies signed Josh Harrison to a 1 year deal.

Back to the Eagles...

Fine with this move. They needed depth/experience after moving both Maton & Vierling.

Opening Day bench now probably:

Stubbs
Guthrie
Sosa
Harrison
either Hall or Cave as last guy

I like this move. He's a veteran who's been around, which adds to a mostly inexperienced bench. He's challenged at SS, but could play there in a pinch. He's pretty solid at 2B and 3B, LF and RF. Plus, he's a decent hitter.

Yeah, he wasn't winning the numbers game, with the increased bullpen depth. They may be able to trade him for farm filler. Otherwise he'll have a chance to latch on elsewhere before spring training.

I think the writing's also on the wall for Nelson, though he has options and can be stashed at Triple-A
