OF Masataka Yoshida has agreed to a five-year, $90 million deal with the Red Sox.

The Red Sox will ALSO have to pay a $15.375 million posting fee to the Orix Buffaloes

Cole Hamels, still only 38, would like to pitch in 2023, his longtime agent John Boggs said. Hasn’t pitched since 2020.
Phils should offer the minimum + incentives. Worth taking a chance

Yeah, it doesn't make sense on any level, really.
But it would be so fun to see, so screw it.
He really needs to retire as a Phillie.

Phillies would be doing him a favor at this point.

Given that Bogaerts got only $20M less than Turner, I'm even happier with how this played out.
Padres paid all that money to their #3 choice, after Turner & Judge.

I think things to remember, too, are:
-- Machado will definitely opt-out after 2023, given the money out there now (He'll have 5/150 left on his deal and can exceed that easily, if healthy)
-- Soto is a free agent after 2024

Still two full years of Soto, but -- barring injury -- Bogaerts is probably their Machado replacement

That is a pretty lousy deal for the Padres - who seemingly had the boatload of cash ready for whoever wanted to say yes.

Can't say enough of how important the aggression was from DD early on. Though i think Walker may be a slight overpay, they filled holes very quickly and jumped the field in many ways. The Giants and Padres both got stuck in lost negotiations and it shows.

Giants in the unenviable position now of probably having to give in to Boras' record-setting demands for Correa.

Well, the Mets have signed Senga.

Their rotation is now:
Verlander
Scherzer
Senga
Quintana
Carrasco

On paper, we are the third-place team in the NL East.

Def would have taken senga over Walker given the similar deals. Big miss
