The good news is that O'Hoppe looks like the catcher of the future for the Angels, so maybe they're not as interested in a catching prospect from the Mets -- at the moment.
I can't imagine Hoskins interesting LA. Again, he's a pending free agent.
Abel/McGarry/Stott could work.
Here's another thing to consider: Where does Trout play. Even if he CAN stay healthy, he's probably going to need to move to corner outfield. Suddenly you're looking at some additional logjams in that respect.
And another huge factor: Are the Angels shopping Trout because they want to make a big attempt to keep Ohtani? Or are they planning to shed both. I think the Mets & Yankees are far more interested in Ohtani than Trout, which could be to the Phillies' benefit.
I don't think any of this gets to the front-burner before July, at the very earliest. Teams will want to see how Trout does in the first-half, health-wise.
Two years ago, I salivated at the idea of Trout in Philadelphia. Now, I'm not so sure it's the best idea, all things considered.
If this was to go down last week, I would have considered Stott as part of the deal, and signed Segura back.
As much of a nice thing it may be to include Hoskins, it doesn't help the Angles unless they lock him into a deal.
So you may be able to get away with Abel, McGarry/Falter/Guthrie/Maton maybe, or take the chance and add Stott, and roll with Platooning Guthrie/Sosa?
Then yeah you have the jam in the OF especially when Harper returns.
My opinion would think they would make that move for him sooner than later. Theres possibly a cascade of moves to follow if thats the case.

It's just weird to say, but I'm just not interested in acquiring Trout at this point, if there's a prospect cost.
Our young pitching (we finally have some) is what is going to make sustained success possible. We need Painter, Abel and possibly McGarry to be key parts of this rotation by 2024-25. Look at all the young pitching Atlanta has stacked up. We can't compete on the mound just by signing free agent pitchers. We need to develop them and keep them.

I don't know if Trout will be traded, but I don't see the Phils being involved
The team to worry about are the Mets, especially if the Correa deal falls though

The young pitchers need to be kept. Not only for performance reasons but salary cap ones as well. Their reasonable costs allow the club to carry huge contracts and stay under the cap.

Agree on all points. I think Our Gang is in a a pretty good spot right now. It would be way too much risk to aquire him.
Unless, the right deal falls in Dombrowski's lap.

There will be a team that cares more about winning than image and will give him a shot. It's bound to happen. Especially because he won't ask for much money, to get his foot back in the door.
If I had to guess: White Sox, Twins, possibly Padres
