That's the shame of last week for Hurts.

He would have done that last week if Watkins doesn't fumble.

Seriously. Thank God.

I couldn't take another week of feeling like that and hate listening to IP and 97.5 with their fear and loathing routine.

A struggle as I expected, but nice job by Jalen to win the game and BG for the big sack.

Moot point now, but some poor clock management by Sirianni on the final drive and wasting a timeout

Giants lose fwiw

How the hell are the Rams 3-7. Thanks for hurting our Saints draft pick, champs.

Eye test vs. stats...

John Gonoude
@john_gonoude
The @Eagles
have allowed 17-or-fewer defensive points in 8 games this season, which leads the #NFL.

Over the last 10 weeks, Philadelphia ranks 1st in the league in defensive points allowed per game (14.8), including a league-low 5.8 second-half points.

There are times when you have to understand what you see that isn't reflected in the stats as you go forward. There are stats that are predictive and stats that are reflective.

Hurts stats last year when you look at his deeper stats with bad throw %, on target %, drop %, adjusted comp%, his passer rating to Smith/Goedert/Ertz vs other receivers, they tell you that adding a Brown/Pascal should elevate Hurts for 2022 and his stats properly predicted what he's doing now. Therefore, they are predictive stats.

Having said that, when you look at Gannon's stats, they tell you want they've done vs the competition they've played. They are reflective stats. What my eye tells me is that the teams they've played can not impact the Eagles' defense the way some of the better teams, in particular, the better QBs will take advantage of Gannon's scheme and his tendencies.

When I critique what Gannon is doing, I'm projecting it forward into matchups against better teams and I am legitimately concerned that his weak scheme & soft approach will be exploited by QBs much better and smarter than say a Taylor Heinicke, who played smart, took what they gave him and didn't press.

In those instances, the stats you're quoting are meaningless. They've only told us what they've done previously vs a weak schedule of teams. What I want to see is Gannon giving Hurts shorter fields by forcing punts that flip the field. TOs aren't something you can count on. Playing stiff defense and getting off the field on 3rd down, forcing a pint from their 25-40yd line. How many times have we seen Gannon's defense have a team pinned indide their own 10-15yd line. How many punts have we seen from their end zone? One? Then they ran into the punter. After a punt, Hurts always has to go thr length of the field. Not ideal vs top teams with good defense.

Eagles have not played that many good offenses

Any stats that make the D look good are more of a function of that, then anything Gannon has done.

Not that many consistently good offenses in the NFL right now

Can't do stats-only.... context is king. The truth is, they've let teams back into games and were fortunate to come out on the winning end of all but one of them.

Buff? I tried to tell you about Gannon and his defense. Everything I wrote above was on display vs GB, last night.

Rodgers made critical errors that other top QBs won't make. It's gonna cause Hurts to have to win shootouts vs playoff teams.

He's too predictable in his scheme and play calls. He's too conservative. He's too vanilla. He doesn't ever try to impose the defense's will when they have a down and distance advantage. He allows QBs the time to pick his soft zone apart, especially middle of the field.

Stats don't tell you, you have to see it and project against greater talent.

i think its scheme and players. If Gannon's scheme is predicated on a strong rush with only 4, then you need to have pass rushers. Can't really fault Roseman, the d line looked good going into the season and he's made efforts to shore it up but the results arent there. Has Quinn done a single thing? Gannon should realize rushing 4 is not generating pressure, which means the secondary has to cover for longer/ weaknesses and soft spots on the field are exposed.
