You can't run zone read runs vs teams that are so much faster than you are. Steichen refuses to learn his lessons. Hat on hat, straight ahead blocking is the only way to minimize that speed disadvantage.

This game was not on the offense. Not sure what the hell happened with this defense today but between that, and them constantly shooting themselves in the foot all afternoon...
Lock it up.next week with the Saints...

Damn shame.
Minshew playing hero ball rather than just taking the yardage to keep the sticks moving and get it inside the 10.

You'd think after all this time some folks would just listen when I say something. As I said, a good QB would pick apart Gannon's soft ass, passive zone and exploit the middle of the field because he lacks aggressiveness and is entirely predictable on down and distance. Prescott was 22 for 22 vs the zone. Good, experienced QBs will just sit there in the pocket and make throws. Gannon would not adapt and it cost them, just as I said it would.
I don't give a shit about stats, you have to look at the game and predict what will happen vs better competition. I have zero faith in Gannon vs playoff caliber QBs with smart OCs. Gannon was out coached.

TO were the key to losing this game.

Prescott completed nearly 80% of his throws.
This is consistent with Gannon's issues from last season.

As Bel said (as have I) Gannon's defense against a good offense has no chance. I fully expected Dallas to convert the 3rd and 30 - though I predicted a PI. 24 for 24 for 300 yards against the zone. Adjust much?
It wouldn't have mattered though. If Dallas had gotten the ball back late down by one score, they still would have won
Not that they would have scored, but spiking the ball at the 20 when you have a timeout is stupid. You don't give up a down there. Though with the play calls thereafter, didn't matter
Minshew is a back-up and did ok. The turnovers the past few games have been an issue and they killed them today
Hopefully Lane is back for the playoffs, otherwise they are really effed. Odds are, if they do win one more game, they will have Dallas in the divisional round and will need 35+ to have a chance. No Lane and that will not happen

It's not about this specific game, or any other game, it's about defensive approach. It's about how the defensive game is called, it's about situational down and distance management. TOs or not, there are defensive calls that need to be made depending on the situation. When better QBs face a Gannon defense, this is the result. Not a win or loss result, necessarily, but the performance of the opposing QB is consistently an issue with 80% complete is the norm.
