Re: NBA 2023 Trade Deadline: 02/09/23 - 3pm
76ers will do squatahhh.
They have gone from Hinkie, a stacked roster of young players, multiple future 1sts, 2 1st Rd pick swaps and a boatload of cap space to having an older, slower, unathletic, plodding roster, no 1sts until 2029 and luxury capped with zero chance to make any meaningful roster changes.
This is what I was worried about with Morey. He has effectively "Houston-ified" the 76ers. The Rockets, by the end of his tenure, were short, slow, capped and unable to improve the roster through trade or draft. They're still working out of the hole he created.
If he tries to trade Maxey to "fix" this shit, that's it. They will then be at the point where we're waiting for Embiid to ask out and we're back in the lottery with a bottom 5 team & no franchise player.
Then we'll be without the wizardry to Hinkie to rebuild.

It's definitely a somber comparison: the front office stupidity of the 76ers squandering any window vs. the turnaround for the Phillies under Dombrowski & the sustained brilliance of the Eagles.

Thybulle traded to the Blazers in a three way deal. Sixers get Jalen McDaniels.

I would have liked to have added a 6-10 athlete to pair with Thybulle, not at Thybulle's expense. I step forward, two steps back.
I'm really not impressed with anything Morey has done. Disappointed AF.

no assets to do anything really. playoffs wise, this team as presently constructed does not beat the Celtics or Bucks and might even lose to the very athletic Cavs.

They can actually beat the Bucks, they can't beat the Celtics, Cavs and potentially, the Hawks, Bulls and Raptors present significant athleticism issues.sentinelhyder wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 8:25 pm no assets to do anything really. playoffs wise, this team as presently constructed does not beat the Celtics or Bucks and might even lose to the very athletic Cavs.
They can also beat the Heat and Nets, the Knicks are a toss up.
