Eagles plan to release CB Darius Slay, per sources.

The #Eagles will designate Darius Slay a Post 6/1 release today. His $26.1M cap figure will remain on the books until 6/1, after which Philly will take on dead cap hits of:

2023: $8.611 ($17.5M saved)
2024: $13.798M

Slay can sign elsewhere immediately.

That's a shame to deliver a probowl performance, help the team make the SB and wind up getting cut 2 months later.

Tough business, man, tough damn business.

Looks like DT and CB with the 1st rd picks. Doesn't lend itself to trading down for 2nd day picks. I doubt DL is gonna slip to 14 or 18. Might get a CB in the 14-18 range but then there won't be a starting caliber DT at 30.

If there's a CB who's likely to last until #15, I see them trading down from #10 a few spots and adding a pick.

The questions will be:
-- what if CBs are coming off faster than expected. We will just stay at 10 and grab their favorite?
-- What if a Top 6 DT is still available at #10. Do you delay the CB pick and take the impact lineman?

Slay isn't going to get 7mil + per year contract from any team. I would wait him out and see what happens. If he gets what he wants, so be it. I wouldn't be shocked to see him resign here on a one year 5 million or something (if they can do it)

I still think that #30 pick gets traded down and Eagles go Edge rusher at 10. Unless the best CB is there at 10.

Per John Clark; Slay will be staying

So I am guessing a restructure and no CJGJ

I'll bet they'll keep CJGJ, also.

Howie will creatively structure the 1st years of Bradberry, Slay & CJGJ to have lower cap hits that will allow him to restructure in future years. They will also be helped by Hurts' contract not hitting a full cap hit in 2023.

With Brissett to the Commanders, will be interesting to see what Eagles do for backup QB. Marcus Mariota?
