Terrible fielding by Turner on that grounder.

I continue to not be impressed with Turner

Right out of my mouth. Very very over-rated. Way over anxious, swinging for the fences on every swing .
Very average fielder

I wanted Boeggarts
That being said, I wasn't ranting and raving when they signed Turner as it was still an upgrade, but I just think that he is a declining player. Sort of like Cutch became - still decent, but not a superstar
It's only 22 games, so hopefully, he proves me wrong

You really have to show more offense than they shown in 2 1/2 games vs one-off the worst pitching staff in MLB
5 stinking hits today is very weak

I think it's fair to question/criticize Turner thus far. We need WBC version Trea pronto.
But I'm not ready to start saying Bogaerts was the better fit, especially when the comparison are a hot start (Bogaerts) vs. a mediocre start (Turner).
They have essentially the same contract (11/280 vs. 11/300) and I think a lot of people in that context thing Bogaerts was overpaid by San Diego, which may have been looking to protect itself in what were, at the time, concerns about Machado and/or Tatis.
There was a lot of talk in the winter of how the various free agents would age with contracts that take them to the end of their 30s. Most folks really likes Turner best in that regard, even making comparisons with Barry Larkin.
There's defense. Turner is no Rollins or Larkin. But he's better than Bogaerts. In fact there's a lot of talk that Bogaerts will have to move from SS within the next 2-3 years. If that's possibly the case, do you give the guy 11 years?
Bottom line is that it's early. But, yeah, you guys are right. Turner needs to step up. As do the guys around him. I suspect that Turner becomes more dangerous when the pitchers are more worried about the guys around him in the order. Right now they're not.

Soto is doing a pretty nice job lately of quietly handling middle innings. Much needed.
Nick Maton is hitting .140 and Vierling is at .222 in Detroit.
